Puppet Shows

Was Reagan a simple man? Is that how you would want to remember him? Keep in mind that he was often accused of being a simpleton, a puppet.

Is that how we should remember him? Or was he the architect of budget deficits, South American death squads, and the circumvention of Congress?

Has politics since Reagan really been about making a new Reagan? That would certainly explain Clinton on horseback and Gwib out in Crawford. However, both of these examples are after they were elected President. I would say that the media tries to make the Presidents into Reagan.

Democrats try to make another Kennedy. Republicans try to make another Hoover. That's the way the parties work, and that's what's wrong with them both.
But I ain't voting for Nader this time.
